Cafe Owner Gets Probation For Trying To Smuggle Money

(Honolulu, HI) -- A cafe owner on Oahu is being sentenced to probation for allegedly trying to smuggle 100-thousand-dollars out of the country. The "Honolulu Star-Advertiser" says a federal judge also ordered 26-year-old Yen Chang to forfeit the money to the government. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer stopped him at the Honolulu Airport last summer. The officer told him that federal law requires travelers to declare if they're carrying more than ten-thousand-dollars in cash when they leave the country.
