U.S. Welcomes Release Of Ukrainian Prime Minister

(Washington, DC) -- The U.S. is welcoming Saturday's release of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison. White House spokesman Jay Carney said the U.S. will work with international allies including Russia to support a unified and democratic Ukraine. He also urged an end to the violence that has rocked that country for more than three months. Carney noted the Obama administration has consistently urged a coalition government and said Saturday's developments could move things closer to that goal.
